Really good in preventing birds pooping in your rain gauge

It is good in stopping birds landing on the rain gauge and pooping in it and blocking it.

Works well, instructions for use with rain bucket extension could be better

The spikes definitely keep the birds off, no problem. The instructions for how to exactly feed the metal strip when used in conjunction with the rain bucket extension are missing, and it’s not immediately obvious how to best feed the metal strip through the tabs on the extension. A diagram would be most helpful here. But, really, the correct solution would be to combine the spikes and the height extension into a single part or, even better, make the normal funnel rim higher and have the slots for the steel spikes already integrated into the funnel, so there would only be a single part instead of a fiddly installation procedure involving a dozen parts. Be careful during assembly and double-check everything before tightening the steel band because it is very difficult to undo the locking mechanism if there is a problem. The locking mechanism can be opened again by using another steel strip to push into the locking clamp on top of the stuck strip, in the same direction in which the original strip was inserted. But, again, there are no instructions for this. So, while it works, it’s an afterthought solution to a problem that could have been trivially solved by designing the bucket correctly in the first place, such that it would have both a higher rim and could accommodate the stainless steel spikes.
