I bought the WH0298A specifically because I already use an Ecowitt GW1100 weather station and wanted a small additional display to show the outdoor temperature measured by my weather station.
Unfortunately, I discovered after purchasing it that the WH0298A cannot display this temperature at all. It only receives and displays temperature/humidity data from up to eight additional WH31/WN31-type sensors.
This is very disappointing. In my setup, the GW1100 already receives the outdoor temperature from the main outdoor sensor array, together with humidity, wind, rainfall and solar data. I therefore expected an Ecowitt temperature display to be able to show this existing outdoor temperature. Instead, I would have to install an additional temperature sensor outside just to display a value that my Ecowitt system is already measuring.
Technically, the WH0298A works fine and the display itself is clear and easy to read. But its usefulness is unnecessarily limited by this restriction, and I don't think this limitation is obvious enough from the product description.
Ecowitt really should offer a small display like the WH0298A that can show the outdoor temperature from an existing Ecowitt weather station or sensor array. That is exactly what I expected this product to do.
For my intended use, unfortunately, the WH0298A is not suitable.
