Works well - but it’s throw-away after 3 years when the battery runs out

For the price, this pool thermometer is excellent, but the battery is not replaceable so the whole device has to be thrown away after 3-5 years of use… so this is not a very ecological product: I would rather pay twice the price or more for something that is more ecologically responsible (i.e. a rechargeable or replaceable battery). The display in the Ecowiit app is also odd with this device as it tries to display humidity as well as temperature: I don’t know why Ecowitt have done this, they have perfectly usable temperature probes available that just display temperature: clearly my swimming pool will hopefully be at 100% humidity :)

Uses a Temp&Humidity channel!

They don't tell you but this will use one of your temp and humidity sensor channels so if you already own 8 you will have to junk one and lose the ability to monitor one room. Should have been made a fully new sensor or been assigned with the other temp probes like leaf wetness etc. I hope they change it as this is a big mistake

Finally a solution that works

Have been looking for a solution to monitor water temp for a while and this little device works more than fine. My old gw1000a found it immediately and it reports back temp even when the pool is outside 50-60m away. Only drawback is that the batteries are not changeable, but they last up to 5 yrs and the price for the sensor is a lot lower than any alternative I have seen
